Security Guards (or Officers) work in a wide variety of roles in the private security industry. Usual roles include static guarding, manned guarding and key holding. You must attend and pass a course with one of our approved training providers to apply for your SIA Security Guard Licence.

At the of the course, you will be assessed on the course units. The assessment format for each unit is broken down below:
The first step in applying for your SIA Security Guard Licence is to book, attend and pass the Security guard training course.
The next step is to complete the forms on the SIA's website. The SIA stands for Security Industry Authority and they issue the licence. The SIA is a government body and will check the following:
1. Your identity
2. Criminal record and background
3. Your course qualification
You do not need to provide any proof of your qualification as the SIA is able to check and validate qualifications electronically.
